How much should I tip?

It depends on country and service. In the US, 15–20% is standard for sit-down restaurants. In many European and Asian countries, service is included or 5–10% is generous.

Does the tip apply before or after tax?

This tool calculates the tip on the amount you enter. Most people enter the pre-tax subtotal and tip on that, but you can enter whichever figure you prefer.

Can I split between 1 person?

Yes — set people to 1 and the per-person amount equals the total bill plus tip.

What if my group is uneven (some ordered more)?

This tool does an even split. For per-item splitting, use a dedicated expense splitter (coming soon).

Can I change the currency?
