Is the PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read into memory and rendered to a canvas by pdf.js running locally in your browser. Open DevTools → Network and you'll see zero outbound requests for your file.

Can I view password-protected PDFs?

PDFs with owner-password permission restrictions open fine. PDFs that require a password just to view will prompt pdf.js for the password — that flow is not exposed in this tool yet.

Why does the first page take a moment to appear?

pdf.js parses the document structure and prepares the page on first open. Subsequent pages render much faster because the document is already loaded.

Can I search inside the PDF?

This reader focuses on page-by-page viewing and zoom. For full-text search, extract the text with our Extract Text from PDF tool.

What's the maximum file size?

There's no hard limit — your device memory is the bound. Very large PDFs (hundreds of MB) may take a few seconds to open and render smoothly.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The reader is responsive and supports pinch-to-zoom via the zoom slider, plus large tap targets for the prev/next buttons.
