Which valuation method is best?

Depends on the company. Revenue multiples suit high-growth startups (SaaS). EBITDA multiples suit profitable businesses. DCF is theoretically purest but very sensitive to assumptions — most professionals blend all three.

What's a typical revenue multiple for SaaS?

Public SaaS companies trade at 8-15× revenue in normal markets, 20-30× in bull markets. Private startups often get 5-10× with growth and retention metrics to justify it. Always benchmark to comparable companies.

What discount rate should I use?

For established companies: 8-12%. For startups: 25-40% reflecting higher risk. The discount rate is your required return — what you could earn elsewhere for similar risk.

What's terminal value?

The value of all cash flows beyond your explicit forecast period, computed as FCF × (1 + g) / (r − g), where g is the perpetual growth rate (usually 2-3%, in line with GDP) and r is the discount rate.

Does this handle debt and cash?

No — the methods give enterprise value. To get equity value, subtract net debt (debt − cash). For most early-stage startups with minimal debt, enterprise ≈ equity value.
