Which diacritics are removed?

All harakat (fatha, damma, kasra, sukun, shadda, tanwin), the superscript alef (madda), and Quranic annotation signs in the ranges U+0610–U+061A, U+064B–U+065F, U+0670, U+06D6–U+06DC, U+06DF–U+06E8 and U+06EA–U+06ED.

What is tatweel / kashida?

The U+0640 character — a horizontal elongation used for typographic justification in Arabic. Toggle it on to also strip these from your text.

Are the Arabic letters themselves preserved?

Yes — only the combining diacritical marks are removed. The base letters (ا ب ت … ي) are kept untouched.

Does it handle Quranic annotation signs?

Yes — Quran-specific marks like the small high fatha (U+06DF), small high meem (U+06E2), etc. are all in the included ranges.
